After living an awesome twenty-two years on earth, Andre finally couldn’t take it anymore, sickle cell had gotten the best of him and he was tired of fighting.
We were all sad and hoping he would fight a little more but we could never genuinely understand his pain or what he had been through.
I had seen him fight through every crisis and he had come out victorious but this time was different because I could see the fight had left his eyes.
I had tears in my eyes as I looked at him and held his hand and the last words he said to me were, “remember me”.
I left him that night not knowing that was the last time I would be seeing him, he was indeed a true friend and how can I ever forget him. His time with us was wonderful and I couldn’t forget him, even if I tried.
