Sick Bay

I always saw the sick bay as a place I pass by on my way to school because I rarely ever fell ill and when I did, it was always something mild that my mum could cure by giving me some syrup. So I really didn’t know what illness was.

I didn’t realize how lucky I was until one day my mum took me to the sick bay, she got scared because my temperature had gotten really high despite all she had done to bring it down.

Once inside the sick bay, I saw people in different types of pain and with different ailments, I didn’t know that people could have those types of illnesses before that day.

I didn’t know that I was born lucky, one of the few with near perfect health but after that day, I began to be more appreciative of my self and all around me.

It finally dawned on me that for everything I have, no matter how little, I should be thankful because they are others who have nothing.
