Victimized (14)

Jessica headed straight for the door as she ordered Sandra out of her office, “You don’t understand do you” she asked Sandra in rhetoric’s, “I called you in to make you rich and famous for no amount from you.” “The relationship was going to be greatly symbiotic”, “you were going to gain tremendously from it and so was I but you blew it right on my face” she snorted as her entire body vibrated in anger. Sandra cringed and shuddered as she watched and listened to Jessica like a servant in obeisance to her Lord, “I am sorry aunty,  I am terribly sorry for whatever my delay in response must have cost you,  I was torn between the lion and the deep blue sea,  it was a big dilemma for me but I am back now.” “I even brought my things along” she quickly added as she pointed to the backpack beside her. “I know the trip is slated for tomorrow and I am prepared to pay any price for my mistakes.” she said conclusively.

“Ha ha ha ha ha ha” Jessica laughed aloud,  as she opened the door even wider,  “GET OUT you fool” she spoke in rage as she dragged Sandra out of the office before throwing her backpack at her. “If I see you anywhere near this office again, I will make sure you regret it for the rest of your life “pointing a finger and shaking her entire body alongside as Sandra could feel the breeze from a slammed door on her face. Sandra knew Jessica ought to be angry with her, she also knew her withdrawal was justified but the manner at which she was treated like a doormat was baffling. She didn’t expect to be treated so sorely.

Amidst the disgrace which Jessica had meted on her, Sandra picked her clothes and shoes which were littered all over the floor one after the other, as she walked quietly down the hall. Sandra was yet to get to the reception area when she saw her friend Rebecca walk past her. “Rebecca” she called out immediately as she wiped the tears from her eyes with the helm of her blouse, Rebecca who obviously hadn’t seen her friend turned around immediately wondering who could be calling her in such an unfamiliar environment. She had come to find out about the program just as Sandra had advised and seeing her friend gave her a breath of relief as she knew she could direct her to the exact people she needed to see.

“What are you doing here girlfriend”? Rebecca asked,

“Hmm… Same thing you are doing here o.” hiding her already swollen red eyes. “So have you made up your mind about our last discussion” Rebecca asked again, “It’s already taken care of my sister” she responded quickly and changed topic immediately. “You need to meet with Aunty Jessica first but please don’t tell her you know me.” She added, “I don’t want you to lose your chances with her.”  She continued… “Do whatever she tells you to do and be sure to engage in a vocational training that suits you perfectly.”  Do not object to any offer that comes your way” Sandra spoke affirmatively as she pointed Jessica’s office to Rebecca.

Both ladies exchanged pleasantries and went in different directions after Rebecca thanked her friend for her help. Sandra walked briskly out of the building, “No-one should see me with this heavy bag” as she headed straight for the bus stop.
