The War

I never knew what it meant to truly have to let go of someone you love so deeply that life didn’t make any sense without them in it. This happened to me, however, during the war.

He was Igbo and I was Hausa and that didn’t seem like an issue to us because we knew we wanted to be together but our tribes had already separated us even though we didn’t know it.

When the war started, he had to leave the north because it got really bad and I didn’t know how I was going to survive.

Luckily for me, the issue got resolved and we all got reminded that even though we had different tribes, we were one Nigeria. But by then he was gone, how was I ever going to find him?

I didn’t even know where to start looking for him, but I made up my mind that I won’t stop searching until we were finally together and deep down I knew he would do the same.
